There are many things to do on Portland, ranging from enjoying a meal overlooking all of Chesil Beach and Weymouth to rock-climbing to experiencing a guided ‘ghost-walk’ through the many tunnels which run through parts of Portland. Portland is home to many restaurants and pubs, one of the most famous being ‘The Cove’ which sits just behind the sea defences of Chesil Beach.
During the summer months ‘The Cove’ is a popular place to enjoy a drink whilst overlooking Chesil Beach and the sunset, it is also home to the locally famous ‘Cove-fest’ which is a music festival held in August where local bands can showcase their talent and people can enjoy a beer and a burger in the sunshine.
For a slightly calmer and more sophisticated evening you can head to the Portland Heights Hotel where the restaurant offers a view of Chesil Beach, the Fleet, and all of Weymouth, as well as an extensive and varied menu.
